Theosophy and Science: Allies or Adversaries?

Thursday, November 13 | 7:00 p.m. CT | 1:00 a.m. London (GMT)
FREE WEBCAST

“Modern science is our best ally” is a well-known axiom from The Mahatma Letters, often cited in Theosophical discussions to affirm the growing convergence between contemporary science and the occult wisdom enshrined in The Secret Doctrine. Yet the cautionary sequel to that maxim is often overlooked: “It is generally that same science which is made the weapon to break our heads with.”

In this thought-provoking webcast, Dr. Edi Bilimoria—award-winning engineer, philosopher, and author of Unfolding Consciousness: Exploring the Living Universe and Intelligent Powers in Nature and Humans—examines the evolving relationship between scientific inquiry and Theosophical thought.

The talk offers a panoramic view of how scientific principles have alternately supported and challenged Theosophical teachings across time. Edi explores both the enthusiastic and critical contributions of scientists who were members of the Theosophical Society, illuminating how empirical investigation and spiritual wisdom may act as collaborators—or at times, uneasy bedfellows—in humanity’s ongoing search for truth.

Edi’s background bridges these two worlds with rare authority. A consultant and project director for major engineering endeavours such as the Channel Tunnel, London Underground, and offshore installations, he has also been a lifelong student of the Wisdom Tradition, lecturing widely in the UK and abroad.

His four-volume work Unfolding Consciousness received the 2025 People’s Book Prize for Best Achievement and the 2022 Grand Prize Award from the Scientific and Medical Network. His earlier book The Snake and the Rope was awarded the SMN Book Prize in 2007.

Edi’s forthcoming publication, Consciousness Came First: Revealing Evidence for Universal Intelligence and Mind Beyond the Brain (Collective Ink, 2026,— now available for preorder), continues the Theosophical mission of uniting scientific and spiritual insight. Drawing on perennial philosophy and cutting-edge research, it affirms that consciousness—not matter—is the primary foundation of existence itself.

This synthesis of reason and revelation invites us to rediscover the higher purpose of human evolution and the timeless truths of the Ancient Wisdom.
