It is with profound honour that I present to The School of the Wisdom, Adyar, my forthcoming two-week course, ‘Science and Occult Science: Converging Paths to Truth?’ This six-session program will critically examine the methodological and epistemological frameworks of both modern scientific inquiry and occult science, aiming to elucidate their potential for synergistic advancement in the pursuit of metaphysical understanding.
Central to our exploration, we will attempt to vindicate the legendary maxim in the Mahatma Letters, ‘Modern science is our best ally [but]…’ We’ll seek to illuminate the nuances of this maxim, acknowledging science’s remarkable contributions, while also considering how the wisdom of occult science can help us transcend its inherent limitations.
We affirm the fundamental role of modern science in shaping our current era. However, we contend that a more expansive understanding of reality necessitates the integration of complementary frameworks, specifically those offered by esoteric traditions. This synthesis aims to illustrate that scientific advancement, when harmonised with the principles of occult science, enables a more holistic and comprehensive exploration of the cosmos, thereby moving beyond the limitations of strictly materialist paradigms
