What is consciousness?
Does the brain generate consciousness, or is consciousness itself the fundamental reality from which life and mind emerge?
These questions have occupied philosophers, scientists, sages and spiritual traditions throughout the ages. Drawing upon more than fifty years of research into science, philosophy and the Perennial Philosophy, Consciousness Came First brings together evidence from modern scientific enquiry and the timeless wisdom traditions to explore the possibility that consciousness is not a by-product of matter, but the very foundation of existence.
At a time when humanity possesses unprecedented technological power yet continues to wrestle with questions of meaning, purpose and identity, a deeper understanding of consciousness has never been more important.
During the afternoon, Edi will introduce the central ideas explored in the book, followed by discussion, a book signing, and tea with homemade cake in the beautiful surroundings of The Fintry Trust.
